In Illinois, Grandparents have the right to petition the court to be heard as to their grandchildren. ¬†Grandparents’ rights to visitation and or custody are somewhat limited in a case where DCFS is involved, but when the grandparent or other family member has been a foster parent and/or a relative care giver, then that person has rights. ¬†Illinois law contains a specific provision regarding grandparent rights to visitation and or custody when DCFS has filed a petition
